Gone.
No explanation or warning from bandcamp.
Okay, so I know that it was a bit of a risk. I read the terms and conditions and it didn't actually say anything about uploading live shows for free. I know it isn't illegal. Only selling is illegal. Sharing is not. I figured that I may have discovered a loophole. I got excited. I put many hours of work uploading shows. Many people downloaded them. Many people shared and embedded.
I was wrong. Now all the nice links cannot be used. And the time I spent doing it was kind of a waste.
I didn't make a penny obviously. But neither did they. Which is probably why they're more willing to overlook the fact that Amanda Palmer uploads covers - music she also does not own - for free, even though it blatantly says 'no covers' in the FAQ.
Double standards?
I'm not really having a go. I still love you amanda. I still love you bandcamp. I'm just a bit gutted that's all.
Anyway, after thinking it over I have decided that I'm going to still go ahead with the project. There will be a few complications I will need to work out, and obviously the embedding will have to go, plus the nice bandcamp stats.... but I think I can still figure something out, and in someways it might actually be better for me to do it this way.
I hope that bandcamp either have the decency to reply to the email i sent them, or at least add a new thing to their terms and conditions which says that 'Amanda Palmer is Queen and therefore she can upload whatever she wants but the rest of you peasants shalt not'
;)
